The South Dakota Cowgirl honored me with this blog award recently. If you don't know her, you definitely should. She lives on a huge ranch with her guy Zach, some cattle, and some of the prettiest horses I've ever seen. Her posts are fun and thoughtful, and I make sure to check in with her every day.
Before passing this award along, I''m supposed to share up to 10 fascinating things about myself. Which is pretty hard, because I think you all probably know everything there is to know about me already. Let's see...
-For a short time, around age 8, I wanted to be a nun (yeah, I know; tell me about it). My parents wisely humored me until the inclination passed.
-A couple of years ago I dated a guy, for over a year, who had no sense of smell (are you thinking Blog Post, because I certainly am).
-I have the tiniest wrists I've ever seen in an adult. Really, I'm 5'9" and I have these wrists smaller than most infants. I love bracelets, but finding ones small enough is a challenge.
-I've always been able to do a back-bend, and now that I'm fast approaching old age, I make sure to do one once a year, just to prove I still can.
-I love long dangly earrings. Although again, as I get older, I have to choose ones that are more lightweight so my earlobes don't end up on my shoulders.
-At family gatherings when I was a kid, my parents had me do impressions for entertainment; I did a great Ed Sullivan and Richard Nixon (who didn't?), as well as two of Lily Tomlin's characters: her telephone operator ("One ringie-dingie"), and Edith Anne.
-I love my feet. Of course it's just my opinion, but I think they're really pretty.
-I had a dream when I was pregnant with all three of my kids that correctly predicted what sex they would be.
Okay that's only eight, but I think we can agree it's more than enough. I'd like to pass this award on to the following blogs:
1) Erin at The Locals Love It: She has some great posts about cool places by people who actually live there, as well as useful travel tips and her own very thoughtful reflections on life in general.
2) Lynn at For Love or Funny: She never fails to make me smile.
3) Jill at Stella's Roar: I've been following her for a while now, and she always posts photos of the most beautiful and interesting things, leaving me in a constant state of yearning.
Please take some time and go visit these lovely ladies. You'll be really glad you did.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am going to take the next few days off and be back on Monday.

No sense of smell? I bet that made for some interesting evenings out. And I kind of feel sorry for him.
I laughed at the nun "fact" - I'm sure your parents knew once adolescence hit, at the very latest, that would fly right out the window.
You really are one of the most interesting bloggers I've had the pleasure to read.

The nun thing makes sense to me. I also suspected you were tall... and I can never have too many pairs of earrings. ;-)
Have a lovely lovely lovely holiday weekend. xo

I'm off to try a backbend right now! If you don't hear back in a while...call the paramedics!
Thanks for the award you fabulous woman! It's much appreciated!!
Happy Thanksgiving. I'm at my parent's house. I've reverted back to childhood...not a pretty picture!

I miss Lily Tomlin. After her stint on "West Wing" I don't think I've seen her again.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family!
oh, and when you do that back bend this year? Get a snapshot. I want to see that. I did a somersault back in the spring, but was viciously repremanded because I was pregnant with o. Took all the fun out of it...

A backbend! You really are amazing! I couldn't even do those when I was a kid.
A nun? Interesting...
I had no clue you were tall, thanks for straightening me out. LOL
Congrats on the award! I can hear Lily Tomlin's voice in my head!

Congratulations. Happy Thanksgiving. And I think you look tall in your photo:).

Did you ever have some fun testing out that no sense of smell?
Very interesting and eclectic list there, Ms bakbending nun with little wrists (which makes the whole back bend even more a feat - yes?).

I did Edith Ann in my 6th grade talent show. I was good, too.
I do the same thing with the backbend. That's so weird.
I wanted to be a nun after I saw my favorite movie in the world The Sound of Music--of course I thought if I did become a nun I would meet and marry Christopher Plummer.

Congrats!
My sister-in-law has no sense of smell or taste due to an accident she had as a teenager. We always forget when we ask her how something tastes, and she always tells us how good something is, but she's just a lovely person in general. I'm thankful for her fibs since it makes me feel good about my cooking!

I totally left a comment earlier and now I don't see it. I think I might be TOTALLY FLABERGASTED by the award you've given me and I'm not thinking straight.
Anyway, what I said earlier (I think) is that you sure are one talented chick. Can you post a video of you doing your backbend, wearing no shoes and dangling earings while doing your impression? That would be so cool.

Congrats on the award! And I can't believe this but I wanted to be a nun, too -- until I hit puberty, that is. Thanks for the new blogs to check out! I'm headed there now!

These are definitely interesting things! Wrists the size of an infant's? Back bend? Edith Anne? I would LOVE to hear your Edith Anne impression. And that's the truth. PLLLLLLLLLLTTTTTTTT!

I would love to hear your impressions. Seriously and I really like my feet but no one else's.

That little tidbit about the guy who couldn't smell just got me laughing. i have no idea why. Why is that funny to me? LOL!

Here's something funny -- I used to be a gymnast, but I don't think I could do a back-bend anymore...
You go, girl!
(Hope you had a nice T'giving.)

Wonderful list, Maureen! I love the fact that you thought of some really unique things to tell us...more about you we didn't know! (Now, you have less secrets from us....hmmmmm.....)
Congrats on the award...and congrats to all the recipients!

Hey there! I've been reading your posts from the convenience of my Blackberry. I should get back in the blogging mode this week so I'll be back on the radar. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I know we did!

Ooh, the tiny-wrist bracelet problem. I can empathize there. However, on Fat Days, I do love looking at my wrists. Nice to know something doesn't bloat.

You can still do a backbend? I don't think we can friends any more. I tried one more than 10 years ago that sent me into a back spasm from hell. Never tried again. I can still do cartwheels down the hall though.
And I LOVE Edith Anne. And that's the truth. Phflbbbt.
